| 7-14" Track Work - April 21,
2001
A work crew showed up early on a cold overcast day to begin replacing the three existing turnouts at the south and north end of the passing siding. The new turnouts have improved point and frog design to permit full speed operation between the passing track and the main line. The existing turnout on the mainline at the south end was turned 180 degrees to make a spur for accessing the gravel pile without tying up the main line. |

The other two turnouts removed will be used for future additional spurs. The work proceeded well until the rains came. After everyone was completely soaked, it was decided to return the next day to complete the work. On Sunday the same crew returned and was greeted by a nice sunny day. The work on the two south end turnouts was completed and the north end turnout was also changed. |
| The work of moving equipment and gravel was made a lot easier and faster with Harry's bobcat. Sure beats using a wheelbarrow and shovel! |

Work was also started on the new 71/4" line passenger platform. The work of removing the topsoil and laying gravel for the platform base was made easy with Harry's bobcat. The platform decking will be installed after the gravel base has been allowed to settle. |
